STEP 1:
DISCOVERY
The first step in planning a creative, productive website
is similar to that of any great scientific process —
the “discovery” or the collection of data to be
used later during the actual web design process. A good developer
must work closely with the client to learn more about who
they are, what their business is all about, and what benefit
the website will have for them.
A good developer will ask:
— Why is the website needed? — Who is
the target audience of the website? — What does
the client want the visitors to the website to take away with
them?
— What is the product to be promoted by the site?
— Does the client have an existing marketing strategy?
After the developer has collected enough information about
the client and his or her business to build a sufficient profile,
its time to assemble the data and start building the
prototype. |
